Park Lane, Allestree - then and now

Jump to: navigation, search

It's nice to see a scene which has not changed that much over the years. Park Lane, Allestree, still has the same verges, hedgerows and old stone walls today as in this picture, left, taken at the turn of the last century.

It’s not clear, due to the trees, whether the white house at the bottom of the lane existed in the earlier picture. Perhaps a reader can tell us.

What is clear is that the pace of life was slower and there was no fear of speeding traffic as people ambled along the road and posed for the photographer.
